Backup software

Backup software you install once and forget

Backora is a small program that runs quietly on a Windows or Mac computer: a background service that does the backing up, and a desktop app that shows you one word for how things stand.

Install in minutes

Download, sign in with the account you created on this site, choose folders, and the first backup starts. No configuration file, no command line, unless you want one.

One word says everything

Protected, Backing up, Attention needed, or Not protected. The tray icon and the main window always agree, and neither ever shows you an internal error code.

Runs as a service, not just an app

On Windows it installs as a Windows Service that keeps backing up even when nobody is logged in; on Mac it is a per-user background agent that starts at login. Closing the window does not stop protection.

What you can control

Which folders are protected, how much of your internet connection it may use (five levels, from a trickle to unlimited), and how often it checks for changes. A change to a watched folder can also trigger a backup on its own after a quiet period, instead of waiting for the schedule.

Questions about the software

Does it slow down my computer?

It reads files sequentially and throttles its own bandwidth and I/O; the bandwidth limit in Settings caps how much of your connection it uses at once.

Can I run it on more than one computer?

Yes, up to the number of computers your plan includes, all under one account and one bill.

What platforms are supported?

Windows and Mac today. There is no Linux build; Linux is not currently a supported platform for the desktop or the background service.
