Data protection is more than a copy
Backup is the mechanism; data protection is the outcome — data that survives loss, theft or a mistake, and that you can actually recover, verified before you need it and provably yours alone.
Confidentiality
Content is encrypted on your computer before it leaves, with keys that are never stored unwrapped anywhere Backora operates, including on its own servers.
Integrity
Every chunk is checked against its content hash on upload and again during periodic verification, so silent corruption is caught, not discovered during a restore.
Availability
Backups can never be deleted or overwritten by the same credentials that create them; only a server-side process, after your plan's retention period, ever removes old data.
The lifecycle of your data
Backed up, verified, retained for your plan's period, and eventually released only when it is genuinely no longer needed — you are warned before anything from an ended subscription is released, and a recently deleted snapshot can be undone within a grace period.
Questions about data protection
Who can see my file names or contents?
Nobody at Backora, in the ordinary course of support: staff diagnostics show status and error categories, never file names or contents.
What is tenant isolation?
Every request and every stored object is scoped to your account at the database level; there is no code path that lets one customer's session reach another's data.
How is this different from just 'backup'?
Backup describes making the copy. Data protection also covers whether that copy is trustworthy, private, and recoverable when you actually need it — the parts a copy alone does not guarantee.
